Iridescent

An Experience in Empathy by Porter Novelli Melbourne

One day they tapped me on the shoulder

And started to whisper.

So I leaned in to every word.

They pointed, I stared

Noticing more sides of myself, I thought weren’t there.

Lines were drawn, I dared not cross.

Where they pushed, I pulled.

Close to turned to closer.

They moved in and made themselves at home.

They filled each corner and curled through every space.

No one knew they lived here with me.

We didn’t want them to.

It was our little secret.
